Topic: Recent Progress on Continuous Global Symmetries

Abstract: In this talk I will talk about my works on understanding continuous global symmetries. This includes: 1. Proposing the symmetry topological field theory for continuous global symmetries; 2. Computing anomaly of continuous symmetry from rearranging defects of the theory and understanding the origin of an extra dimension; 3. Constructing the symmetry category for continuous symmetries. I will also introduce several aspects of our on-going endeavors on exploring more physical and mathematical implications of categorical symmetries and the related extended topological field theory.
