Topic: Toward Quantum Black Holes

Abstract: The AdS/CFT correspondence has enabled a microscopic account of supersymmetric black hole entropy in the large-N limit. Understanding black holes beyond this limit, where quantum gravitational effects become important, remains a central challenge. In this talk, I will explore how supersymmetric indices at finite N can shed light on quantum black holes through holography. Focusing on the three-dimensional ADHM quiver theory dual to M-theory on AdS4xS7, I will discuss signatures of black hole microstates in the finite-N spectrum. I will then introduce a complex-beta phase diagram as a new probe of supersymmetric quantum phases and explore its implications for the quantum gravitational description of black holes.
Speaker Profile: Prof. Chiung Hwang received his PhD in Physics from Pohang University of Science and Technology in 2015. He worked as a research fellow at Korea Institute for Advanced Study, University of Milano Bicocca and University of Cambridge. He joined the Institute for Basic Science as a Young Scientist Fellow in 2022. Since 2023, he has been a Professor at the University of Science and Technology of China. His research interests cover strongly interacting phenomena in quantum field theory and quantum aspects of gravity.
