Abstract: Quantum simulation in High Energy Physics (HEP) has advanced significantly in recent years. Nevertheless, further development of a comprehensive simulation framework remains an important challenge. In this talk, I will first highlight the essential role of quantum computing in HEP and review recent progress in the field. I will then discuss the impact of gauge redundancies on quantum simulations of quantum field theories, with particular emphasis on digitization—the encoding of field variables into qubits. Finally, I will present quantum algorithms for the efficient preparation of initial states in quantum field theory simulations.
