Abstract: The strongly correlated problem in many body physics can be mapped to a weak interacting problem with gauge symmetry. The essential issue for this gauge theory is how to find a gauge fixing condition which is consistent with the local constraint in the strongly correlated system. Using the BRST quantization, we find this consistency can achieve for both the first- and second-class systems. Applying to some familiar physical models, e.g., the t-J model, we obtained a weak coupled consistent gauge theory and the physical observables can be calculated by the conventional perturbation theory.
