Abstract: The existence of dark matter is supported by a large number of astronomical and cosmological experiments and is an important part of matter in the universe. Similar to the study of ordinary matter, the study of the microscopic properties of dark matter has always been at the forefront of scientific concern. Among many dark matter models, WIMPs are the most studied category. It perfectly combines the image of the cosmological big bang and particle physics models and is widely present in new physics models. I will first introduce the theoretical and experimental research progress of WIMP dark matter in recent years. Then, I will discuss the main variant models of WIMPs and non-WIMP dark matter, focusing on sub-GeV dark matter theory and the new method of detecting light dark matter using low-energy collective excitation signals in theory and experiment.
