Abstract: On a general homogeneous and isotropic background, the graviton self-energy$-i\Bigl[\mbox{}^{\mu\nu}\Sigma^{\rho\sigma}\Bigr](x;x')$ can be represented by structure functions, each of which obeys the Ward identity. We develop a convenient parameterization for these structure functions. We then apply the formalism to an explicit one-loop computation of $-i\Bigl[\mbox{}^{\mu\nu} \Sigma^{\rho\sigma}\Bigr](x;x')$ on de Sitter background. We use this result to solve the quantum-corrected, linearized Einstein equation to obtain one-graviton-loop corrections to gravitational radiation and to the force of gravity.
