Abstract: The seesaw model is one of the most natural and simplestextensions of the SM to explain tiny neutrino masses. In this talk, we explain how to construct the low-energy effective theory of the seesaw model and why one has to go beyond the tree-level matching between the full seesaw model and the effective theory. The prospects for future developments will be briefly discussed.
