On the morning of April 15, 2021, the first meeting of Scientific Advisory Committee of Peng Huanwu Center for Fundamental Theory (PCFT) was held at the East Campus of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Academician SUN Changpu, chair of the Committee, academician LUO Minxing, associate chair of the Committee, Prof. LU Jianxin and Prof. YANG Wenli, members of the Committee, and other members of the center attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by academician LUO Minxing.
Academician SUN Changpu first delivered a speech. He fully affirmed the necessity of establishing the center and stressed that this was the first joint center supported by the special fund of NSFC in theoretical physics. It is hoped that the center can maintain its own characteristics, insist to do the academic researches and activities, and contributes to the development of theoretical physics in China.
Prof. LU Jianxin, director of PCFT (Hefei) reported to the Committee about efforts and achievements of the center. The participants had a heated discussion on the relevent details, including the consititution and planing, the organization of academic activities, and the research achievements etc.
Subsequently, the Committee reviewed and revised the medium and long-term planning of the center.
Finally, academician LUO Minxing put forward valuable suggestions for the development of the center. Academician SUN Changpu placed high hopes on the future development of the center in the concluding remarks.
