Abstract: The electric charge is quantized in the standard model. However, particles with non-quantized electric charge, often referred to as millicharged particles (MCPs), exist in a variety of new physics models beyond the standard model. In this talk, I will discuss the theoretical models in which MCPs can naturally occur, and the experimental methods to search for MCPs. Although a number of terrestrial searches have been carried out for MCPs, significant millicharge is still allowed for mass larger than 100 MeV. We propose to search for such high mass MCPs at electron colliders, and found that electron colliders, including BESIII, Belle-II, and the future STCF, can probe the unexplored parameter regions above 100 MeV.
