On the morning of November 14, 2020, the opening ceremony of Peng Huanwu Center for Fundamental Theory (PCFT), was successfully held at the East Campus of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Prof. LUO Xisheng, vice-principal of USTC, presided over the ceremony.
Prof. DONG GuoXuan, executive deputy director of the Department of mathematical and physicical sciences of NSFC, academician XIANG Tao, executive deputy chair of the scientific committee for the special fund of NSFC in theoretical physics, academician BAO Xinhe, president of USTC, and academician ZHAO Zhengguo jointly unveiled the nameplate for the center.
On behalf of the center, Prof. LU Jianxin, director of PCFT (Hefei), introduced the construction and development of the center. He stressed that the center would provide a decent, academically-oriented and scientifically sounding environment to the researchers. It's expected that after a period of accumulation, some of the members could make certain breakthrough in certain important and key questions and have original and important contributions. Prof. DONG GuoXuan, academician XIANG Tao and academician BAO Xinhe gave important advices for the future development of the center.
Distinguished guests that attended the ceremony include Prof. NI Peigen, director of the first Physics Division of the Department of mathematical and physicical sciences of NSFC, Prof. ZOU Bingsong, deputy chair of the scientific committee for the special fund of NSFC in theoretical physics, Prof. YANG Wenli, Dean of the school of physics of Northwestern University, Prof. YANG Tao, director of the scientific research division of Northwestern University, Prof. CHEN Yu’ao, executive dean of the School of Physical Sciences of USTC, Prof. CHEN Xiangjun, Secretary of the Party committee and deputy dean of the School of Physical Sciences, Prof. YUAN Zhensheng, vice minister of scientific research department, Prof. PENG Xinhua, executive director of Department of modern physics, and other relevant professors, students and staffs.
