Topic: A Duality for Effective Field Theory and Scattering Amplitudes

Abstract: There are two equivalent descriptions of QFT: the (effective) Lagrangian based on local fields, and the scattering amplitude based on on-shell particles, and thus a duality between EFT and amplitude naturally arises. We explore different kinds of spacetime symmetries, such as the Poincare symmetry, SO(5,1) and U(N), would determine n-pt contact scattering amplitudes, and one-to-one correspond to the effective operators in various EFTs, such as SMEFT, massive EFT in broken phase, QCD chiral Lagrangian and gravity EFT, etc. The on-shell matching and running between EFTs can also be performed using massless-massive correspondence and symmetries of the scattering amplitudes at different scales. Finally the UV resonances of the SMEFT are identified to systematically parametrize various new physics models based on covariant spin-orbital partial wave analysis, which provides an UV-IR correspondence in the searches of new physics at the LHC and future collider.
